Is it because B is the 5th of that E ? Sort of stacking the 5th tones in a way ….? 🤔✌️
Always well presented. Even this rather deep lesson.
Thank you!
I'm gonna give this an A for effort. You put a lot of great "String English" and playing style into making this work, but at the end of the day, it sounded like a Phaser. If you didn't say what you were playing I would have said "It's a Phaser" every clip. Phaser as Univibe was passable. A 4 knob Flanger is the REAL most versatile pedal!
Great lesson, and nice black binding on that guitar
Thanks!
The guitar is so beautiful, the color the tone… just wow! Props to Heritage.Great lesson, great playing. TY for sharing your knowledge with all of us.
Thank you and you’re welcome!
No hablo ingles y entendi todo gracias bro
Your teaching is a revelation, Jamey! I'll see you on Patreon soon :)
Thank you!
Probably the best explanation of this topic I’ve seen 🤘🏻
Thank you!
Love the tele
At a fairly young age I learned that rhythm was the real grail of guitar. Who was my mentor? Jimi Hendrix, one of the all time greats of rhythm guitar. The drums, if they could follow his time, would swing so hard, one could forget they were basically listening to two players. To this day, my band is guitar, drums, and singer, allowing the space for a deadly groove.
Hendrix was definitely an incredible rhythm player, and did it all while singing!
@@JameyArent Still Raining, Still Dreaming is just the deepest groove imaginable. THAT is what I worked on for years and years, how to feel that better than any drummer could. I don’t need to challenge Jimi’s soloing. I mean, why bother? I do my own thing. But meter? Meter and me go way back. I’ve been working as a producer since the early 80s, and my meter serves me very well in that work. I know I’m making my artist’s records better by feeling problems before they get recorded.
sounds great - tele my fav great band too . I hear a lot of SRV love the double time
Thanks!
beautiful Gibson !!!!! I have an america made Gibson ES -333 its basically the same as a 335 but not great finish and no PU covers
OMFG 😳 ... if I'd only seen this 35 years ago ! Or if I was 15 years old again (this would be better!), I would be a journeyman bluesman. Probably would have gotten laid more, too ! You're a great teacher, Jamey . Thank you ! Excellent picking, my friend!
Thank you and you’re welcome!
Great lesson. I have been doing a deep dive back into blues right where I started from. This is perfect been driving with my ears in the dark using slurs and avoiding notes at certain times but not knowing what I'm doing or why. I've knowen for a while I need to sort out what I'm playing over the 5 chord and dial my ears in,think having more knowledge is going to create more clarity and freedom in my playing. Yeah the Freddy King licks I have been hearing and wondering how he sounds so sweet. I do struggle with learning. I think you have a great teaching style I really get it. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. Thank you will find a way to contribute. Regards Rob.
Thank you!
Great video! Scofield is my absolut favorite player
Thanks! One of mine too for sure.
Wow, that was like an entire course on playing the blues in one video! Great lesson, Jamey!
Thank you!
Dammit man - I wish I had this 20 years ago
awesome lesson!
Thanks!
Jamey you really are a talent. This is just great. I have been playing this stuff for years and not understanding why. Your lessons just make things so clear. Good job man !
Thank you so much! Glad it was helpful.
hi, I would like to buy a telecaster to play funk. which model do you recommend?
Any Telecaster will do for funk. Play a bunch and go with the one that feels the best.
erm… actually those are inversions and technically different chords! 🤓☝️
Those are Ted Greene’s handwritten chord diagrams. He didn’t always write the inversion bass notes.
Great lesson!
Thanks!
Hi,could you make a video about how triads or 7th triads get turned into other chird by puttin a bass note over them?it wouldn't be super helpful, that's the point i struggle with the most.Thx in advance , blessings ❤
Genius, jamey. Thank you.
Thank you! You're welcome!
🔥, Thanks for this clean method!
You’re welcome!
This is something I kind of felt instinctively in my playing, but really helpful to hear it articulated like this. Genuinely useful stuff!! Don’t usually subscribe to these channels but this one for sure.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!
or you can just use the G diminished-wholetone scale... wait a second... that's the same thing
Best video I've seen teaching funk so far
Thanks!
What a lesson!!!!!!!!
would buy a CD from you if you recorded tunes like this. nice playing, great tone, THANKS
Thank you! I do have an album available on all streaming platforms and on CD here: jameyarent.bandcamp.com/album/the-back-burner
Glad to find your video. Very clear and well presented. Subscribed as od today.
Thank you!
You could learn this entire lesson note for note, and then play 80% of SRVs entire back catalog - great job
Thanks!
Im a new player and never so about this concept.!!!!❤
Woooowwww
Every once in awhile, some one comes along, that makes sense to me,! Thanks 👍
You’re welcome!
The YT algorithm knew EXACTLY what I needed to the T! This is a fantastic explanation, thank you! 🙏👌
Awesome! Thank you and you’re welcome!
use major and minor and don't play a major 3rd over the 4 chord
If I learn this, I will be a transformed human being….
Excellent focus on musical expressiveness. There’s always discussion about the unique language of guitar legends. But each of us have the ability to develop our own language, too. Thanks for the great vid.
Thanks and you’re welcome!
Thanks Jamey, punchy tips!
You’re welcome and thank you for the Super Thanks!
outstanding lesson! I think your triad lesson really helped me more than anything I've done in a long time. As you're going through all these different ways to play through the changes from the I to the IV really studying triads made it a lot more accessible.
Thank you! Glad the videos are helpful.
You're a great teacher. Got my sub.
Thank you!
I actually quit trying to learn because nobody would teach like this. Maybe I'll pick it back up.
You should!
This video is so so soooo helpful that it improved my playing in just one day...... Thanks a lot bro for this amazing lesson. Really loved your content.
Great to hear! You’re welcome and thank you!
I don't' know how I only JUST found you. The algorithm has failed me until now. But, you're an incredible teacher, and your content really preaches to me. So, thank you. I've been going through your whole catalog today. SO good. Keep being awesome. - Ryan
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel.
One of the top Blues rhythm videos on the internet. Hands down. Thank you.
Wow thank you so much! You’re welcome!
Really epic awesome lesson brother thanks!🙏🙏🙏
Thank you and you’re welcome!
This is the easiest way to understand this. Most guitarist spend years in the weeds trying to figure this and and you’ve made it clear as a bell in ten minutes. Great channel. Make videos on triads next.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful. I actually do have a video on triads! Check it out: How to Use TRIADS on Guitar! ua-cam.com/video/hsm4BDG3DEQ/v-deo.html
wowwwww thanks man
You’re welcome!
I'm really digging your channel!
Thank you!
